Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- May 10, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The magnitude of today's image, over 1.3*(10^14), might be the greatest I have ever squeezed from the conventional math routine.   The breakdown of precision is only barely visible along the sharpest boundaries.

Yesterday's image featured a parade of half-elephants.   In today's image we search very deep into one of those trunks, where we find a midget.   Actually, the midget itself lies beyond resolution at the center, but its pattern is quite striking.

I have given the image neither name nor rating.   But this does not mean it is a total loser image.   In fact, under normal circumstances I would have rated it around a 7 and named it something like 'half-trunk'.

The render time of 14-1/2 minutes will pass quickly while one is studying the passes=b option at work doing the rendering.   Those who did all the studying they desire in school may see the image by downloading it from the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

A typical mid-spring day here at Old Fractal Central on Tuesday kept the fractal cats occupied in the holly thicket.   Preparations for moving and the regular work added up to keep me occupied.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours unless something goes wrong.   Until then, take care, and search for the theory of everything.
