Fractal of the Day

FOTD for 25-04-06 ©
Jim Muth's fractal image in GIF format (640x480).

FOTD -- April 25, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a scene in the Z^(2.1)+C Mandeloid as it appears 24 levels up the ladder, where it resembles a Mandelbrot set rotated 180 degrees.   What is normally the eastern side of the main bay now lies on the west end of the almost-M-set.   A close examination reveals that East Valley, which is now a west valley, has developed a few spurious wannabe valleys, making the true East Valley rather hard to determine.

Today's scene is located in one of these valleys.   It might be East Valley; it might not be.   Regardless, the distorted midget with its puffy yellow surroundings makes a rather striking picture.   If I had given the image a rating, it would have earned about a 7.

The render time of 3-3/4 minutes may be conveniently avoided by going to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and downloading the already-rendered GIF image from there.

A very noisy thunder-storm Sunday evening sent the fractal cats scurrying for cover in the back corner of the closet.   A near perfect day Monday brought them out to enjoy the world.   In my department, the work is temporarily caught up.   I do not expect the catch-up to continue for long however.   The next FOTD will likely appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and one of these days I think I'll write a letter to God.   (I don't expect an answer.)
