Fractal of the Day

FOTD for 23-04-06 ©
Jim Muth's fractal image in GIF format (640x480).

FOTD -- April 23, 2006   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

At level 1333 of the logarithmic ladder, the Z^(1.333)+C Mandeloid appears as a distorted, vaguely M-set shaped thing with a surprisingly long and straight main filament pointing SSW.   The midget that dominates today's image is located very near the tip of this filament.   This midget has inherited the long straight main filament of its parent.

I gave the image a rating of a 7, mostly because of the color palette, which emphasizes the many sub-filaments radiating from the central midget.   I did not bother giving the image a name.

The render time of one minute is fast enough for the slowest units.   And as always, the completed GIF image is available on the FOTD web site at:

Rain and chilly temperatures kept the fractal cats solidly indoors all day Saturday here at Old Fractal Central.   Their moods were unexpectedly good however.   They passed the long afternoon sleeping.

In contrast with recent days, my day was only moderately busy.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and watch out for falling fractals.
