Fractal of the Day

FOTD for 18-04-06 ©
Jim Muth's fractal image in GIF format (640x480).

FOTD -- April 18, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's nameless and un-rated image is a scene in the fractal that results when some Z^(EPSILON) is subtracted from a slightly greater quantity of Z^(PI) and C is added.   The parent fractal resembles the cubic Mandeloid, but with two valleys on the western side of the main bay rather than one.   Today's scene is located in the northernmost of these two vallies.

The decorative holes that are scattered through the image are not true holes.   They will fill in with increased iterations.

The image takes over 11 minutes to calculate on my machine, but this wait may be avoided by downloading the pre-rendered GIF image from the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

Morning clouds and chilly temperatures gave way to afternoon sun and mild weather here at Old Fractal Central on Monday.   The cats were grateful for the pleasant conditions.   I was grateful also, for getting the work done, that is.

Unless something unexpected happens, the next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and if the universe is non-local, where then are we?
