Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- January 28, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

With today's nameless and unrated image we check another Julia set of the Z^(1.3)+C Mandeloid, this time as it appears at the ground-zero level of the spiral.   Actually, the ground-zero level would better be called the minus-pi level, since the 'pi' level as calculated by the branch-cut formulas is actually the default level calculated by the built-in formulas of Fractint.

The corresponding Mandel point of today's Julia image lies toward the center of the main Mandelbrot bay.   The unusual effect is a result of rendering the image with the inside set to 'fmod' with a proximity of 0.03

The 6-minute render time borders on slowness, but the finished GIF image is available on the FOTD web site at:

Bright sun, milder temperatures in the 40's F, around 8C, and lighter winds here at Old Fractal Central on Friday made the outside pleasant enough for the fractal cats.   They spent almost two hours lurking in the holly thicket, waiting for birds to perch within reach.   The birds never lighted.   The forecast is for even warmer tomorrow with a 90-percent chance of scattered fractals.   It was another busy day for me, trying to decide what junk to throw out and what good stuff to keep.   Until the moment the next FOTD appears, take care, and be with patience.
