Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- January 27, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's quickie FOTD, which has neither name nor rating, shows a Julia set of the Z^(1.3)+C Mandeloid as it appears 30 levels down the spiral.   The corresponding point of the Mandeloid lies in the north branch of a kind of seahorse valley.

To achieve the strange effect I intentionally under-iterated the image and brought the resulting inside parts to life with the 'zmag' option.

The render time of 1-1/3 minutes is fast enough for even the most impatient fractalists, (if such a thing as an impatient fractalist exists).   To make life as easy as possible, the finished GIF image is posted on the FOTD web site at:

Another cold blustery day here at Old Fractal Central on Thursday made the fractal cats sulky.   Luckily there was enough mackerel left over to take their minds off their troubles.   My day was busy.   The forecast for tomorrow is for partly cloudy with a 90 percent chance of a fractal.   Until next time, take care, and could the deepest possible question be 'what is'?
