Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- January 24, 2006   (NO RATING)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a Julia set of a tiny period-37 bud on the southeast shore line of the Z^(1.3)+C Mandeliod as it appears at the minus-pi level of the log spiral.   The outside has been rendered with the traditional equal-iteration bands, while the inside has been brought to life by the inside=atan option.

I gave the image no rating because I put so little effort (about two minutes) into finding and coloring it.   But it certainly deserves a rating of something like a 7 or 8.   I cannot give a name to something I played so little part in creating, so the image has no name.

The render time of 8-1/2 minutes is short enough to make running the included parameter file practical.   Those who do not render may see the image by downloading it from the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

With so much activity around Old Fractal Central over the past few days, the fractal cats started feeling that they were being unnecessarily neglected.   They went into sulk modes, but two dishes of tuna per day quickly brought them back to life.   The next FOTD will probably but not certainly appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and have nothing to do with fractals that appear politically incorrect.
