FOTD -- December 15, 2005   (Rating 4)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

We had an unexpectedly busy day on Wednesday, so the image is very fast and the discussion is short.

Today's image is named "Higher Dimensions".   The name refers to the 4-dimensional Julibrot fractal, which is the source of today's image.

The image shows an attractive Seahorse Valley midget from an entirely new direction.   It is neither a Mandelbrot image nor a Julia image, but an image sliced in a random direction.

The rating of a 4 is all I could do for the image, which is not at all attractive when seen from today's direction.   The Mandelbrot aspect of the scene is far more pleasing.

The render time is an unusually fast 53 seconds, but the finished image is still posted on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

A lack of sun, snow-covered ground, and a high temperature of 23F -5C kept the fractal cats solidly indoors all day.   But they now appear to have adjusted to the limited outdoor time, and are spending their days looking forward to tuna rather than going out.   My day was notably neutral.   The next FOTD will appear without fail in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and be ready.
