FOTD -- November 28, 2005   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The string of low-order Julia sets is unintentionally turning into a kind of running theme.   Today's image pictures a Julia set of the Z^(1.1)+C Mandeloid calculated 109 levels up the spiral.   Despite the unusually intricate features, the image was rendered in the traditional way, with the inside, (of which none is visible), a flat black and the outside set to 'iter'.

I named the image "Glorious", letting the viewer decide what is the glorious aspect of it.   The rating of a 6 indicates that I consider the image just the slightest bit above average.

The render time of under 2 minutes should try no one's patience, unless they are using a Fractint-challenged computer, that is, in which case they will need to download the pre-rendered image from the FOTD web site at:

Alto-stratus clouds moved in on Sunday here at Fractal Central, but the temperature reached a relatively balmy 52F 11C, which was mild enough to give the fractal cats the time in the holly patch they needed to keep them happy.   Tippy actually climbed half way up a holly tree after a bird, which as expected, flew away long before he reached it.   A minor treat of tuna in the evening kept the duo happy.

My day was uneventful.   To some this might seem a bit dull, but actually, I consider myself lucky to have escaped being dragged to a holiday dinner.   The next glorious or not so glorious FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and after wondering, be sure to recognize the answer when you find it.
