Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- November 20, 2005   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image came about when I combined various portions of (1/Z) and Z^(-2), then added (1/C).   The parent fractal consists of three oversized lobes, with today's scene located rather deep in the valley between the north and east lobes.   There appears to be considerably more interesting stuff in this particular parent fractal.   If time were not limited, I might spend an eternity or two exploring it.

The effect of spheres is quite strong, and is the reason I named the image "Spheres".   The rating of a 5 means I consider the image to be merely adequate.   The render time of 29 minutes is on the slow side, but may be eliminated by downloading the completed GIF image from the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

The effect of the bright sun was lessened by the chill in the air here at Fractal Central on Saturday.   The fractal cats checked the outdoors several times, but never remained out longer than 20 minutes.   My day was near average, as are most of my days.   The next FOTD will appear in 2 hours.   Until then, take care, and always look up.
