FOTD -- September 25, 2005   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a scene in the Z^(sqrt(2))+C fractal as it appears 4321 levels up the complex logarithmic hyper-spiral.   The parent fractal resembles a Mandelbrot set sitting on its butt, or maybe Bozo the clown, waiting to be punched.   A small cut-off area lies to the right of the main bud.   Today's scene was found in this area.

It's not that great an image, rating only a 5.   In fact, the outside=iter version is so dull that I needed to add a bit of artificial interest by rendering the scene with the outside set to 'tdis'.   But this particular parent fractal has far more impressive scenes in it -- of this I am certain.   So be sure to see tomorrow's FOTD for something far better, which I have missed in today's FOTD.

No merely average image should take longer than 3 minutes to render.   With its render time of a brief 2-3/4 minutes, today's image meets that requirement handily.   Perhaps the best news of all is that the completed GIF image is, or shortly will be, available for download on the FOTD web site at:

A cloudy and much cooler day here at Fractal Central on Saturday kept the two fractal cats happy in the holly patch.   Wrapping up the remainder of the real work kept the fractalist happy.   Today is again starting with clouds, and it is cooler still.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and do not get lost amid the iterations.
