Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a scene in the fractal that results when 0.3 part of Z^4 is subtracted from Z^2 and C is added. The bubbly effect was achieved by rendering the image with the inside set to 'bof60'. Since I do not feel like thinking of names, I gave the image a date instead of a name. I gave it no rating. The render time is slightly slow, but the finished GIF image is available on the FOTD web site at: Well, this morning finds fractal lady sulky and me a racist and an Atheist, which is a rather strange situation, since racists are supposed to be conservative and Atheists are supposed to be liberal. Actually, I'm not sure what I am. Fractal lady can be excused. She is upset thinking of the thousands of people already dead and the survivors slowly dying, trapped in their attics, abandoned by God and with no hope of rescue. And I suppose the fractal cats are upset thinking of the cats in the same situation. I can't help the way I feel. I try to base my views on fact rather than on emotion. To me, it appears almost insane to pray to and worship a supposedly all-good, all-knowing and all-powerful God who would do such things or permit them to happen. In my opinion, the only way out of this big contradiction is to realize and accept that such an entity cannot exist. If this makes me an Atheist and makes believers unhappy, I'm sorry, I wish it were different but that's the way I see it. At the same time, I see people rising from poverty to wealth through their own efforts, and not by having money given to them. Very few become rich by winning lotteries. IMO, poverty and wealth are largely attitudes. If the entire wealth of the country were redistributed so that every person had an equal share, within a few years the rich would be rich again and the poor would be poor again. The poor people need to realize that they can escape poverty only through their own effort -- by getting an education and putting that education to work. There will be no windfalls such as reparations for the slavery that happened to their ancestors, and even if there were, without a big change of spending habits, the money would soon end up in the bank accounts of the much-hated big corporations. Finally, with education as the only real solution to poverty, I see a city school system that has become little more than a string of day-care centers, where teachers are not permitted to fail students who make no effort to do the work, and are not permitted to give a test score lower than a 50 out of fear of hurting the student's self-esteem. It's insane. Our society has become insane. We pray for help to a God who acts like a criminal and we wait in frustration for someone else to give us the money to make us affluent. It certainly did not seem this crazy when I was a teen-ager. Maybe my big mistake was to grow up, open my eyes and start thinking. I will accept any rebuttal or disagreement. I ask only that the rebuttal be based on observed facts rather than emotion. I will accept any personal attack. I ask only that a logical connection be made between my supposed faults and the truth of my arguments. But I have good news! The weather is absolutely perfect, and is forecast to be perfect for the rest of the week. Maybe the perfect weather will take the fractal cats' minds off of the suffering of the cats in the Gulf Coast area.
