Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- July 06, 2005   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is named "Fake True-Color".   I gave it this name because the elements are so finely divided and so random that the effect almost mimics a true-color image with its millions of colors.

The rating of a 6 is once again a bit less than what I hoped to achieve.   But fractals are like that.   A fractalist cannot always be sure of what will lie at the end of the day's search.

The parent fractal of today's image is surprisingly simple -- a flat green disk with a spot of chaotic debris off to the east.   The image is located where least expected -- in this spot of debris, on a poorly marked filament leading to a Mandelbrot bud.

With a running time of 1-1/4 hours on my fractal machine, the parameter file is annoyingly slow.   But I have sent the completed image on ahead to Paul, who will post it on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
from where it may be quickly and conveniently downloaded.

Very warm and humid weather on Tuesday kept the dynamic duo lazy.   Their greatest activity came at 11pm, when a thundershower came up and sent them scurrying into the large closet for safety.   Today is starting a bit less humid but still warm.   If it doesn't thunder, the duo will have a good day.   For me it will be work and fractals, but what the heck, it's a life.
