Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- June 25, 2005   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's disk-filled image is a scene in one of those bloated, shapeless parent fractals that results when a fractal with negative exponents of Z is near the point of turning inside-out.

To create today's parent fractal I took Z^(-1.5) and combined it with 0.1 part of Z^(-15) before adding (1/C).   The name "Star-struck" has little to do with the appearance of the image.

The rating of a 6 might be a bit liberal, but the colored disks in the image, even though they are very common in such fractals, are among the more spectacular I have come upon.

The render time of 2-3/4 minutes makes calculating the image a minor task.   And the image is also available on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

With a high temperature of 88F 31C, Friday was rather hot here at Fractal Central, but the dynamic duo did not seem to be bothered by the heat as they slept under the holly trees most of the afternoon.   Only a minor treat of tuna was needed to end their day satisfactorily.   Today is starting even warmer, with higher humidity added.   The cats will endure the conditions somehow.   For me, it looks like a rather slow day on the way.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and ponder the great mystery.
