FOTD -- June 19, 2005   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

For today's fractal I ventured into the land of near-cubic Mandeloids.   I began my quest by checking the broadened west valley of the Z^(3.0001)+C fractal.   What I found there was a land of fine-tooth combs, a small view of which appears in today's image.   I named the image "Fine-Tooth Combs", and rated it at a not-too-impressive 5.

The FOTD ratings are continuing to slip, so I had best take action.   I have several lines of investigation in mind that I have yet to try, which should bump up the ratings of the next few FOTD's at least a point or two.

The near 23-minute render time of today's image is slow.   The most efficient way to see the image is to download it from the FOTD web site at:

The Saturday weather was slightly warm for perfection, but the temperature of 84F 29C was mild enough to keep the fractal cats happy.   Today is starting with clouds, and it is cooler.   Unless it rains, the cats should be satisfied again.   For me it looks like a day of doing nothing, though the grass is getting a bit tall, and if I start hearing hints, I might decide to trim it.   The next FOTD fractal will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and trust the unknown to remain unknown.
