FOEFD -- August 30, 2004   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is named "Fractal Fowl-up".   The name does not imply that I feel I made a big mistake in creating the image, nor does it imply that my spelling skills need improvement.   It refers instead to the chicken-scratchy filaments surrounding the grossly-distorted midget at the center.   While I was studying the image, searching for a name, these filaments reminded me of the chicken scratches one might see on the ground in a chicken coop.   (Not having a chicken coop, I can only guess what the ground inside one might look like, but my guess probably has at least a small resemblance to reality.)

The parent fractal, which was created by the simple formula Z^(2.1)+C, is a distorted Mandeloid with a smaller Mandeloid lying in the chaos on the southwest edge of its main bay.   This parent lies four levels up the multi-dimensional logarithmic hyper-spiral.   Today's image is located in a tangled nest of filaments just beyond the west end of the smaller Mandeloid.

Thanks to a little bit of extra coloring effort that I put into the image, I was able to rate it at a 7.   When the fast render time is considered, the overall value rates a quite impressive 279.   And, as is always the case, the pre-rendered image may be downloaded from the FOTD web site at:

Mostly sunny, hot and humid weather prevailed all day Saturday and Sunday here at Fractal Central.   With the temperature hovering around 90F 32C, the fractal cats spent their outdoor time catching up on their sleep.   They seemed happy enough.   Today however promises to bring rain by afternoon, so we'll have to wait to see how the duo adjusts.

And I wonder how I'll adjust when I get the work caught up.   Only time will tell.   The next FOEFD will appear in one or two days.   Until that wonderful moment arrives, take care, and even skeptics are sometimes right.
