FOEFD -- August 20, 2004   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The end of the work back-up is in sight, but it is not yet here, and I have a job that is due by 5pm today.   So today's discussion will be another terse one.

The parent fractal was created by combining negative portions of Z^(0.996) and Z^(-1.004), then adding (1/C).   The scene is located near the point where a filament extending from a bud vanishes behind a foreground disk.

I rendered the image with the outside set to 'summ', which I believe refers to the sum of the 'real' and 'imag' components.   I named it "Summation" because the 'summ' option was used.

When studying the image, I decided that it was at least slightly above average, and gave it a rating of a 6.   The render time of 7 minutes results in an overall value of 85.   The overall value becomes meaningless when the completed GIF image is downloaded from the FOTD web site at:

Except for a brief thunder-shower Wednesday evening, things were pretty good here at Fractal Central both Wednesday and Thursday.   The cat duo agreed, and enjoyed two pleasant afternoons in the holly thicket.   I also enjoyed the two days, mostly because the work went well.

Today is starting sunny and hot.   I will be indoors most of the day, but how will the cats cope with the heat?   Only time will tell.   If all goes well, I will return in 2 days with the next FOEFD.   Until then, take care, but don't be too careful.
