FOTD -- August 18, 2004   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Due to the continuing rush, today's discussion will be very short.   But I have just received the September issue of 'Scientific American' magazine, and a few of the articles already have me waxing philosophic.   Look for a major outbreak of not-totally-opinionated philosophy to soon appear on the Philofractal list.

Today's quickie image takes us very deep into the fractal that results when Z^(-0.99) and Z^(1.11) are combined, and (1/C) is added.   In fact, the magnitude of 3x10^13 makes a mathtolerance entry necessary in the parameter file.   Hopefully, the edited file will run correctly.

I named the image "Golden Jubilee" after all the gold in it, and then, being less than overwhelmed, I rated it at a 6.   The render time of 8 minutes gives an overall value of 71.

Rendering can be totally avoided by downloading the finished image from:

Uneventful weather Monday and Tuesday made life for the fractal cats uneventful also.   A noisy thunder-shower Tuesday evening arrived too late to spoil their day.   Today is starting muggy, with more thunder promised.   Hopefully, the duo will have completed their outdoor romp before it arrives.   For me, it looks like lots of work.   Until next FOEFD, take care, and be skeptical where skepticism is appropriate.
