FOTD -- July 08, 2004   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

We had a flood in Fractal Town on Wednesday, but the fractal basement remained dry.   I attribute the dryness to the mystical power of fractals.   Only unknown magical forces could have kept the water out of the basement, and fractals are the closest things to magic that I know of.   My next task is to put the fractal magic to work on the work backlog. Today's quickie image returns us to the same area of the same fractal that gave us yesterday's image.   The viewer must again take my word that a midget lies at the center of the convergence, for the midget lies far beyond resolution.   In fact, the image itself is of such a high magnitude that I needed to insert the 'mathtolerance' entry in the parameter file to assure that it renders at the correct magnitude.

I named the image "Cube-Root of 2-Two" for catalog purposes.   I rated it at a 7 because I feel that it is a bit better than yesterday's effort.   The render time of 10 minutes gives the whole thing an overall value of 69.

There is not much more to say about the image other than to report that it is available on the FOTD web site at:

A very hot 92F 33C day on Wednesday was cooled to 72F 22C by a very heavy late afternoon thunder-shower, which sent the dynamic duo scurrying for cover.   By the time the rain ended, the sun was setting and the day had come to a close.   The duo emerged from hiding shortly after nightfall, having totally forgotten that their day in the yard had been cut short.   Today is starting partly sunny and slightly cooler.   This is good for cats and humans alike.   Unless the unexpected happens, as it sometimes does, I will return in 24 hours with the next FOTD.   Until then, take care, and remember that V+F always equals E+2.
