Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: A heavier than usual pile of work before me means a shorter than usual discussion. Today's image is a journey into the Mandeloid fractal that results when the formula Z^(2+0.2i)+C is iterated at the negative pi level of the logarithmic spiral. The parent fractal is shaped almost exactly the same as the curiously distorted midget that highlights today's image. The scene of today's image is located in the broad northern branch of the Seahorse Valley area of the parent. Other areas of the parent hold equally strangely shaped midgets, some of which might appear in FOTD's to come in the near future. As for the rating -- I could give the image nothing more than an average 5. But the unusual shape of the midget and reasonably short render time of 6 minutes makes it worth the effort. The overall value is a nominal 78. I named the picture "Tickle My Fancy". I actually was a bit tickled when I saw the shape of the midget. And fractal fans will also be tickled when they see the couple minutes that can be saved by avoiding rendering and downloading the completed image from the FOTD web site at: A sunny and very warm day on Tuesday, with a temperature of 84F 29C, was just what the cats needed. They spent the entire afternoon exploring the holly thicket at the bottom of the yard, dodging the falling cicadas, which are starting to die off at an increasing rate. When evening came, the duo were ready to come inside without complaint. This morning is starting sunny and even warmer. I expect a similar day. In my corner, the work is waiting before me.
