Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: We have a fractal for today -- an image with a rating of 7 that I found at the zero level of the Z^2.1+C Mandeloid. I hesitate to call the zero level the ground level, since the 3.14159... or pi level is a more appropriate candidate for ground level of the MandelbrotBC1 formula, at least when the 'floor' function is used. The parent fractal is a twisted version of the classic M-set, which closely resembles the midget at the center of today's image. The largest bud of the parent is attached to the northwest shore of its main bay, and is squashed on the right side. A tiny, almost invisible valley lies on this squashed shoreline. Today's scene is located rather deep in this valley. Today's picture gives an unusually strong impression of being a photograph of an actual three-dimensional scene in some other reality. How is this possible? Nothing but numbers are involved in the creation of the image, and numbers are abstractions -- ideas that might have no existence other than in the mind of man. It's "Crazy Man, Crazy", which is what I named the image. And it could get even crazier. Since I arranged the colors with the intent of creating the impression of an actual three-dimensional object, perhaps I am the creator of a reality. In fact, I could consider myself the creating god of as many infinite fractal universes as I care to create. I might wonder if there are conscious beings in any of the universes I create. If there are, I wonder if they believe in me. Returning to our present reality, today's image, with its render time of 28 minutes, has an overall value of 25. That value may be increased significantly by downloading the completed GIF picture from Paul's FOTD web site at: Tuesday was wet here at F.C., and the cats were unhappy. On Wednesday the sun appeared and the temperature reached 41F 5C. The cats were happier, but the sloppy snow in the yard made their paws too wet for comfort. Today is starting colder and the sun is gone. It remains to be seen how the duo will take these conditions. With the work once again under control, my day promises to be busy but not overly rushed. The fractal that I find will appear as tomorrow's FOTD. Until then, take care, and never forget that any fractal, no matter how good, can always be made a little better.
