Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- October 10, 2003   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's fractal image is a lost blast from the past, which originally appeared as a FOTD several years ago.   The problem is that I have lost track of the original discussion that goes with it, as well as the date on which it originally appeared.   This is the same problem that still plagues my long-awaited but never-delivered FOTD-CD.

Since the image really is quite striking, and I have lost track of the original name, I gave it the new name "Star for the Ages".   The rating of an excellent 8 makes the 14-minute render time barely worth the effort.   And as always, the finished GIF image is available on Paul's web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and at:
http://sdboyd.dyndns.org/~sdboyd/fotd/

The weather has been uneventful here at Fractal Central the past few days.   The fractal cats have been reasonably well behaved.   The work backlog is still shrinking, and all else is well.   Until tomorrow's Classic FOTD, take care.

Actually, today's image is not identical to the 'Zodiac' image.   Today's image has had its contrast enhanced in a separate graphics program.   An A-B comparison will show the improvement.

When I posted today's image, I didn't realize that I was re-posting an image that I had posted only a week ago.   Things have been pretty hectic around here lately.   When I found the image just lying around in a spare GIF directory, I souped it up and decided to use it.
