Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I spent too much effort being lazy all day Sunday, so the fractal I eventually found rates only a 5.   But after all, even an average fractal is worth seeing.

Some fractals, such as the well-known Mandelbrot set, are connected.   This means that every apparently disconnected midget is actually connected to the main bay by an infinitely thin filament.   Other fractals, such as the parent of today's image, are not connected, and contain areas totally cut off from the main body of the fractal.

Today's midget lies in one of these areas that is cut off from the main body of the parent fractal, which appears as a slightly distorted M-set.   This is why I named it "Disconnected Midget".   I rendered the image with the outside set to 'tdis' to emphasize the disconnected nature of the scene.   The 'tdis' outside also makes a better picture.

The short render time of a nice neat 0:02:02.02 is pleasant enough, though not quite as much fun as downloading the already-completed GIF image from one of the FOTD web sites at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and:

Sunday was an unusually pleasant day here at Fractal Central.   The rain held off and the temperature reached 84F 29C, which made the cats happy, and I got through the day without finding work that needed to be done, which made me happy.   Hopefully, today will be a repeat, but there is still a bit of work to be finished first.

Until next time, take care, and stay connected.
