FOTD -- July 15, 2003   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's discussion will be short.   I have to finish the work that backed up while the telephone was not working and customers who tried to call were getting busy signals.

To create today's image, 1.1 parts of Z^(-1.15) were subtracted from 1.1 parts of Z, then (1/C) was added, and the whole thing was iterated 42,000 times.   The 'tdis' coloring option was then applied to the image and the result given the name "Time to Sine Off".   I suppose the sinuously curving features inspired the name.

The image has such fine detail in the normally flat areas that moire patterns are actually starting to appear.   The whole thing has a deep wine-colored effect that rates a 7.   The high maxiter slows the image to 26 minutes, but this wait can be bypassed by downloading the finished image from:

or from:

The forecasted rain never materialized here at Fractal Central on Monday, and as a result, the fractal duo had another pleasant day in the yard.   Had Thomas not gotten cranky when Tippy gave him too energetic a face washing, their day would have been perfect.   The blue sky, cottonpuff clouds, and temperature of 82F 28C as measured on the Fractal Central digital thermometer were certainly perfect.

Today is promising to be another beauty.   This is good, for I like happy cats.   But within the next few hours I must finish the backed-up work, so my enjoyment must wait.   Until the next FOTD appears in 24 hours, take care, and avoid fractal mistakes.
