Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- May 21, 2003   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's curiously festive scene is located right at the top of the 'fan' feature of the May parent fractal.   In this area there are many pseudo-valleys with randomly shaped pseudo-buds.   These almost-valleys and buds are surrounded and filled not by featureless 'inside' areas, but by higher-iteration areas.   Today's image is located in the interior of one of these almost-buds.

I have named the image "Mandelbrot with Aura".   The blue glow surrounding the central pink area inspired the name.   The rating of 7 equals above-average, though I have long since forgotten exactly what an 'average' FOTD fractal should look like.

The render time of 7 minutes is also average, and if the internet is running as it should, the download of the completed GIF image will take an average minute or so.   The download can be found by visiting Paul's FOTD web site at:

Perfect weather on Tuesday here at Fractal Central produced perfect cats.   The temperature of 74F 23C gave them several happy hours in the yard.   When the day was finished, they settled into their beds to sleep peacefully.

This morning it is raining.   The cats will not be happy.   For me, it will be another day filled with work.   Until the next FOTD appears in 24 hours, take care, and keep up with the bigtime thinkers.
