FOTD -- May 08, 2003   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Another unusually busy day will demand a truncated discussion. A FOTD fractal image without a midget at the center has become a rarity.   To demonstrate that such images still exist, today's FOTD has no Minibrot at its center.

The scene is located in the 'handle' of the fan-like element of the parent.   The immediate area is non-critical, but filled with interesting detail nonetheless.

I named the image "The Devil's Fire" when I had a rather apocalyptic impression while studying it.   It's not that I expect the world to end soon, but rather that the image reminds me of certain frames of the 'Bald Mountain' section of Disney's 63-year-old film "Fantasia".

After not-too-careful consideration, I was able to give the image a rating no higher than a 6.   But the render time of 6 minutes is not too terribly long, and the completed image may be downloaded in a fraction of that time from one of the FOTD web sites.

The weather Wednesday here at Fractal Central was fair enough, with lots of sun and a temperature of 79F 26C.   A light shower fell in the early evening, but by that time the duo had completed their day's fun in the yard.   Needless to say, their moods were better than average.   Today, it is already raining.   I expect the duo's mood will suffer.

As for me, I've got some work to finish, some grass to trim, a fractal to find, and a bit of high-class philosophizing to do.   Until next FOTD, which will appear in 24 hours, plus or minus an insignificant hour or two, take care, and prepare for imminent enlightenment.
