FOTD -- February 26, 2003   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

A day or so ago I mentioned a fractal I had found that is shaped like a rubber duck.   That fractal is the parent of today's image, which lies in the valley that forms the chin area of its rubber-duck parent.   The image is actually a disconnected one, lying in an isolated spiral some distance inland from the normal shoreline features.

I named the image "Rubber Duckie-01" because I expect to find several more FOTD images hidden somewhere in the parent duck.   I rated the image at a 7, which is the highest rating in several days.   The unusual definition and clarity of the features earns the above-average rating.   Plus, I rather like the colors.

The render time of over 11 minutes can be avoided by letting Paul and Scott render the image and by then downloading the finished product from their web sites at:

Tuesday was a chilly day here at F.C., with a temperature that barely made it up to freezing, little sun, and a brisk north wind.   The cats disapproved, but they have been disapproving so much lately that it's hardly worth commenting on.   The traditional treat of tuna eased their sullen moods.   It's snowing again this morning, so more tuna may be needed.

For me, it's another day and another rush.   If I'm lucky, tomorrow's FOTD will be better than today's.   Check then to see if I'm lucky.   Until next time, take care, and what is it all worth?
