Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's FOTD pictures a midget located in the Scepter Valley area of the Mandelbrot set. This midget has existed for all eternity, unseen and unknown, waiting patiently for some intrepid fractalist to stumble upon it and present it for the whole world to see and admire. I am that fractalist. The midget's time to shine will be brief. Within 24 hours the next FOTD will appear. This next FOTD may rate higher than today's image, and today's will then be forgotten. It will return to the shadows of unseen things to lurk there for all eternity. But all is not lost for the little midget. There are theories that an infinity of parallel universes exist, and if this is so, the midget has already been revealed an infinity of times. In fact every midget that exists in the infinite depths of the infinity of fractals has been revealed an infinity of times. I named today's image "Mandelbrot Midget" because that's what it is. And now, in my infinite wisdom and deep humility, I will humbly recommend that everyone take at least a brief glance at the perfectly average 5-rated midget, here making its debut. The warm sun and temperature of 80F 26.5C made conditions perfect for both man and cats. The man had to work most of the day; the cats slept most of the day, though they found the energy to rush to the window, bristling, hissing and growling when a prowling tomcat wandered a bit too close. No new philosophy today. I'm still recharging my batteries by reading the Sep-Oct issue of "Skeptical Inquirer", which discusses the conflict between science and religion. Though I disagree with the rationalist philosophy promoted in this publication, it is still one of the best sources of accurate information about borderline things. It's now time to start my well-earned week-end. Maybe, if I try hard enough, I'll manage to get through the entire week-end without doing any serious work. (Finding fractals is not serious work.)
