Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I seem to be pulling myself out of the blue mood I've been in for the past week or so. What better time to post a moody blue fractal, and name it "The Fractal Blues"? Things are very busy today however, so this will have to be a short discussion. The formula behind today's image, (Z^4)+2(Z^3)+(1/C), is a very simple one, as are the formulae behind nearly all of my images. All the excitement has been added by the <tdis> outside coloring. I keep the formulae simple because I am frugal. I enjoy doing a lot with a little. And what better way to express frugality than with a fractal -- a mathematical object that finds infinity in a teacup? I rated today's image at an above-average 7. I kind of like the feeling of depth it gives. The parameter file renders in just under 4 minutes. The file of the image is available in GIF format on the W.W.W. at: The fractal weather today (the 20th) was very strained, with a temperature of 72F 22C and heavy clouds that let loose several torrential but brief downpours. The whole day climaxed at 10:30pm when a violent thunder-and-hail storm passed over, frightening the fractal cats into hiding. I have little time today to write of the questions which were raised by my recent experiences, but I will state that I am now certain that precognition, one of the more unlikely paranormal claims, does exist, for I have personally and very vividly experienced it. I realize that seeing the future is scientifically impossible and violates the law of causality, yet I now know that this human ability does exist. Trying to convince me otherwise by a rational argument such as that I perhaps unconsciously and in some mysterious way overheard the conspirators plotting their mischief would be as absurd as trying to convince me that the fractal cats do not exist. With me, the question is no longer 'does precognition exist?' The question now is 'how could precognition possibly work, and how many other paranormal claims are in fact true?' My thoughts on these questions will be the thrust of the coming FOTD fractal philosophy. It's now time to get busy and do what needs to be done. So until next time, take care, and how little we know of the world we live in. Jim Muth jamth@mindspring.com |
