Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- September 15, 2000   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's FOTD, the next-to-last before my vacation, had me searching for a name for several minutes before I decided it was "a riot of color" and named it accordingly.   The rating of 7 appears justified, since the striking picture is above the average FOTD.

The MandelbrotMix4 formula is once again responsible for the fractal scenery, though the expression being iterated and coloring algorithm are so simple as to be deceiving.

The 6-minute draw time is a bit slow, making a download of the GIF image file the better choice.   That download may be found at:

and also on the Web at:

The fractal weather today was mostly sunny, with a temperature of 83F (28C).   The cats were happy with the conditions, somehow managing to keep out of trouble all day.

Due to vacation preparations, that's all I can write this evening, but I'll be back with one more fractal before I begin the 8-day break.   When I return on the 25th, the FOTD's will resume as though I had never been gone.   And I might even have some fresh philosophy to share.

Until tomorrow, take care, and be careful around those fractals.
