Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- December 27, 1998

Fractal visionaries:

A cloudy cold day is great for fractal hunting.   Since today was cloudy and the temperature was 28F -2C, I hunted fractals.   Actually, I found today's unusual fractal a few days ago in the difference area around Z+C.

Z+C by itself produces nothing more than a circle, but when 100*(Z^1.001) is subtracted from 100*(Z^0.999), the difference multiplied by 2, and the formula calculated with a large escape radius, an interesting fractal appears.

Somewhere in this fractal I found the scene that became today's FOTD.   I named the picture "Midget with Angles" because of the angular arms that surround the central midget.   The angles on these arms are unusually acute, and result in an image refreshingly different.

As has so frequently been the case these last few weeks, I used the MandelbrotMix7 formula to create this image.   The GIF file has been posted to:
alt.binaries.pictures.fractals
and to:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

Tomorrow is another day, and I will have another fractal at that time.   Until then, take care, and may the fractal fairies be with you.
