Fractal of the Day
by Jim Muth
FOTD -- December 20, 1998
Fractal visionaries:
It was just about perfect here today at Fractal Central, with lots of sun, a temperature of 55F 13C and a brisk SW breeze making it ideal for fractal hunting. I actually spent more time watching the events on TV than I spent hunting for fractals, but with the help of my MandelbrotMix7 formula, I found an acceptable FOTD.
Todays unusual midget appears in the fractal that results when the difference between Z^-0.55 and Z^-0.65 is multiplied by 100. I named the picture "Ocean of Teardrops" because of the teardrop shaped elements scattered throughout the scene.
Since I'm worn out from hours of debating today's events on the internet, I'll have to cut it short again tonight. But don't miss today's fractal -- it's worth the few minutes the parameter file takes on a Pentium. And if you're not blessed with a Pentium, the GIF file with data intact has been posted to:alt.binaries.pictures.fractalsand to the WWW at:http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
By tomorrow, the furor will be beginning to subside, and I'll once again be devoting my full attention to fractals. I wonder if I'll ever grow bored with fractals. No, I guess not. If one doesn't grow bored with a thing in 10 years, they're usually hooked for life.
Until tomorrow then, take care, and rest easy.
Take care.
