Fractal of the Day
by Jim Muth
FOTD -- December 19, 1998
Fractal visionaries:
It's been a really exhausting day, but I got through it, as I always do. The temperature of 41F 5C was just about average; the bright sun made it just about perfect for fractal hunting -- result: I hunted.
For my hunt I pulled out and revved up the MandelbrotMix7 formula, which finds midgets in the fractals that result when the tiny difference between two near identical formulas is multiplied many times.
The difference in today's image is that which results when the Z^(-0.6) figure is subtracted from the Z^(-0.5) figure and the remainder multiplied by 100. The midget in the FOTD is one I found buried where no one had ever looked. That fact is unsurprising considering that nearly every fractal is one never before seen.
I named the picture "All Tuckered Out" for reasons best kept to myself. But feel free to speculate. The GIF file is posted as usual to:alt.binaries.pictures.fractalsand to:http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
Tomorrow, I'll be here again in a hopefully more talkative mood and with another fractal from the same formula. See you then.
Take care.
