Eldon Downs is
pleased to have Pam Marshall as our instructor. Pam has more than 30 years of equine experience. In addition to teaching riding
at Eldon Downs, Pam has also taught at Quiet Retreat Farms in New Market and JBiT Ranch in Berryville, Va.
Her equine resume also includes competitive trail riding, judging local shows and being a wrangler in Arizona, Maine and Virginia.
Pam's teaching philosophy includes having each student achieve goals, no matter how long it takes.
She views riding as therapeutic, and prefers to take a more hands on approach by working with each individual to reach specific needs.
"By teaching them how to ride and to relate to an animal, it will hopefully teach them about life."
Her riders learn the basics first and safety. "There is more to riding than just being on horseback, like taking proper care of the animals. Horsemanship is a big thing in my book". Students range in age from timid at six or sixty, the competitive student, or the trail enthusiast. And although Pam teaches all levels, including a Jr. Olympic rider, her forte is therapeutic riding or the special needs student: ADHT, autistic, muscular dystrophy, etc. "My greatest satisfaction is watching the transformation riding makes in their lives."
