Dornier 335 A-0 Pfeil (Arrow)

"VG + PH"  Wk. Nr. 240102, Pilot Hans Lerche,  May, 1945  Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany

"102" was the second pre-production version of the 335 and was used for testing.  To avoid the advancing Soviet forces this aircraft was flown from the Rechlin test facility to the Dornier factory near Munich.  It was captured by the Americans and subsequently returned to the States for testing and evaluation.  It is the sole surviving 335.  After being restored by Dornier and displayed in Germany in the 1970's it was returned to the U.S. and is currently in storage at the NASM Garber Restoration and Storage Facility.   Upon completion of the new facility at Dulles Airport the 335 will once again be on display.

Since these test planes were not in combat and usually lived in hangers to avoid prying Allied eyes I have modeled my Pfeil with minimal weathering.
