The American Civil War was unique in that it allowed, for the first time, for the average soldier to have his image recorded for posterity (and the folks back home) at a reasonable price. On the following pages are presented, in some cases for the first time in over a century, some of the officers and men of the Seventeenth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry.
