Beer Mug Candle
Supplies:
Wax Gold Colored crayons for color
Wick
Fork
Spoon
Glass Beer Mug
Stick
Set up your candle with the wick supported by a stick across the glass.
After you have slowly melted and colored the wax in a double boiler CAREFULLY pour the wax in the mug to within 2 inches from the top. The wax is VERY HOT. It may even help to
use some old pot holders when handling the double boiler.
Once it is cool you will add the "head".
Wait for your melted wax to form a skin on top and whip it with a fork
then spoon it on top of your candle.
Trim your wick to a quarter inch, and you're all finished.
Barbecue Gift Basket
In a tall chefs hat present any or all of the following:
A painted apron, mesquite chips, homemade grilling rubs for meats,
a pot of fresh herbs, grilling recipes from the computer, and any purchased accessories that may add to the gift.
Dads Brag Book
Cover a small photo album or writing journal with his favorite fabric (fishing motif or camouflage, hunting, or perhaps golf.)It can be used for a collection of family photos from his growing up years or perhaps a collection of all his bloopers.
Start by ironing your fabric. If possible remove the pages from your album. Cut batting to fit the front, spine and back and cut fabric 2 inches larger on all sides. Glue batting to the book. Cover the book with the fabric pulling taught and glue to the inside edges of the album. Glue cording, ric rack, or braid to the inside edge of the album as desired. Cut 2 fabric pieces to fit the inside covers front and back to hide the raw edges. Turn under 1/4 inch on each edge and iron to create a hem. Glue fabric in place with right side facing up and overlapping any trim edge. Embellish with any appropriate accessories and add a title such as Fish Stories, Hunting Brag Book, or Golf Journal. The title can be painted on plain fabric, or added with a marker. Wrap a piece of cardboard with your title fabric and glue to the cover with right side facing up and glue braid around the edge.
Spell it Out
Using blocks spell out a message.
Perhaps his name in blocks for his desk or #1 DAD.
Embellish with miniature accents from the miniature
doll house section of your craft store or the doll
section of a toy shop. Suggestions: Miniature Basketball, Bat & baseball, Fishing pole, Golf clubs and so forth.
Hat
Rather than the traditional tie why not paint, stencil, or embellish his own personalized Ball cap?
Computer
Using your computer print up a special coupon book
(this coupon good for 1 back rub, one clean room, one
washed car, one golf club cleaning, one day of
fishing, and so forth) or print him a fancy certificate in honor of being the worlds greatest dad. If music is his passion make a CD of his favorite songs and personalize a label for it. If you can sing all the better
Sweatshirt
For a new father make baby's foot print by dipping a
fist in paint (your color choice) with your thumb
pointing toward the ceiling 'walk' across the shirt. Add 5 toes with your finger and write My Daughter (or son) Walks All Over Me.
If your children are older have them place hand
prints on the shirt and write, The Worlds Greatest Dad Hands Down!
Or palce the hands on the back of the shirt and write,
"This Dad Earned A Pat On The Back."
