Programs for Young People at Christ Church

The Youth Group, A.K.A., the Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)

Jimmie King and Eric Rutan are teaming up to lead our sixth through twelfth graders in EYC. Jimmie, who graduated from Monmouth Regional H.S. in June, is currently a freshman at Brookdale Community College. Eric recently graduated from Rutgers University with a master's and is working on post-graduate studies while teaching special education at the high school level.

Both have come through the ranks at Christ Church; Eric was confirmed here in 1999 and Jimmie in 2008. Plans are in the works for several activities and events, centering around a monthly meeting, the annual CROP Walk, Diocesan events, and special events to include youth beyond Christ Church.

Girl's Friendly Society

The group celebrated the Feast of St. Francis by baking dog treats for the local SPCA. There are great plans underway for this year and girls are encouraged to join and bring friends.

Christ Church Leadership Team (CCLT)

Tbere is a definite "buzz" going on with the CCLT. Clare Mitchell has hosted the first event, coordinating the CROP walk for the parish. Linette Reeman has recently signed on to oversee Farm Sanctuary, a project our church school worked on over the summer, and we are talking with other teens who are considering how they might become involved.

Youth Adult Community (CCLT)

Last spring a small group of college students began meeting with the pastor of Christ Church and Sandra Wannamaker, pastor of the Methodist Church of Oceanport. We gathered at a local church at 10 p.m. Sunday evenings. This year we meet at 8 p.m. Sunday evenings at the Rectory.

The year is starting with a discussion on calling and vocation and answering questions like: "To what kind of work is God calling You?" and "How do I choose what to do next?".

The group is also discussing "What Color is Your Parachute." Refreshments are provided - friends are welcome.
