SHORT FILM SCARES YOU LIKE HITCHCOCK WOULD WANT YOU SCARED

HOLLYWOOD - Apocryphal Pictures excitedly announced today that its first short film entitled CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' has shaped up as a thrilling and suspenseful piece.

Car Trouble, Darlin'
Jennifer Campbell and Jason Rainwater in CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' -
A short film by Bruce Wayne Gillies

CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' is a hair-raising tale about a boy and girl when their car breaks down in the middle of a dark night and on lonesome road. The boy goes for help nearby while the girl waits in the car for him to return.

First, it screened at the Annual Wine Country Film Festival in Glenn Ellen, CA. Then, at the Hampton's International Film Festival in East Hamptons, NY. And at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and finally at Notre Dame Hall in England at The Halloween Society "U.S. Shorts".

CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' was achievable due to the generosity of the performers, technicians, and craft persons of whom donated their time and effort to breathe life into this shocking scenario.

REMARKABLE PERFORMANCES FROM YOUNG ACTORS

Thespians Jennifer Campbell, as the girlfriend Susan Anne, and Jason Rainwater, as the boyfriend James Dean, lend their talents and ability nicely to the screen, a vehicle that both were seemingly somehow predestined for. It's a perfect balance of anxious sweethearts with troubles ahead of them.

Jen CampbellIt's easy to identify, and a pleasure to watch the natural talent and ability of the lovely Jennifer Campbell. In addition to her starring role in CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN', Jennifer can be seen in THE GIFT, a project directed by Laura Dern.

Television has allowed Jennifer screen time with re-occurring guest star roles on the hit television show, SEINFELD, a starring role in Aaron Spelling's weekly ROBIN'S HOODS, and guest starring on the internationally known, BAYWATCH. Campbell's other guest star roles include MY KIND OF TOWN, LADY BOSS and SILK STALKINGS.

Jennifer hails from a little Midwestern town located at the far northwest tip of Michigan's lower peninsula called Traverse City, Michigan. She spent two years studying communications in Traverse City before moving to Los Angeles, California.

Jason RainwaterThe charmingly handsome Jason Rainwater is exceptional with his delivery and range of scripted character traits as boyfriend James Dean, from
his euphoric rebuttals to dead pan certainties. Rainwater earned favor playing opposite Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as the Rookie Cop character in the third installment of the Warner Bros. cop action-adventure LETHAL WEAPON films.

Jason was a co-star in one of HBO's TALES FROM THE CRYPT alongside Timothy Dalton and Beverly D'Angelo. He appears with Mel Gibson for a second time in the picture, FOREVER YOUNG.

Rainwater spent his childhood in the Northern California mountain town of, Blue Lake, CA. Blue Lake is located just down the hill from the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation. Jason plans to complete college with a degree in Native American studies.

Jason has continued to approach acting very seriously evidenced with his constant dramatic training with acting coaches, Sanford Meisner, as well as, Greg Bach.

YOUNG DIRECTOR'S SHORT FILM TAKES YOU ON A SHOCKING RIDE

Co-writer, producer, and director, Bruce Wayne Gillies is terribly pleased with how his directorial film debut, CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN', plays.

Car Trouble, Darlin'The acting, locations, camera angles, music, costumes, and other production values all perfectly complement the feel, look, and flavor Gillies wanted to get across upon the screen with the unfolding of the CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' story.

Gillies commented, "I couldn't have asked for a better cast, Jennifer and Jason were just marvelous, and the crew was amazing. The entire project was a thrill to be part of.  Good time!"

Bruce Wayne GilliesCAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' was the first short film from the writer, producer, and director.

"From my perspective, given the lack of funding, time, labor, materials, and other obstacles that were endured to capture CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' on film, I'm real pleased. Car Trouble, Darlin'

"It's close to a miracle that it all came together so well. Although more of a planned miracle, I guess." commented Gillies.

Bruce has also directed a feature film and  two additional shorts.  Plus, he directed second unit dramatic action sequences for a hit TV adventure show, two music videos, several television sports, entertainment and news shows and many commercials.

Bruce Wayne Gillies - FilmmakerGillies was born and raised in the downriver area of Detroit, Michigan; a suburb known as Southgate. He studied Cinematic Arts at Central Michigan University while supporting himself as a college sports television producer/director, cable TV production manager, and radio D.J.

Bruce moved to Hollywood directly after college to pursue his writing and directing career. When not directing, he stays busy working as a Line Producer, UPM or 1ST A.D. on feature films, music videos, commercials, and television.

Gillies has also written five screenplays, five shorts films, and two television treatments.

CONTRIBUTIONS OF TIME, SERVICE, EQUIPMENT MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE

Director of Photography, Andy Parke has lensed several features including the action-packed CENTER OF THE WEB.

Editor, Scott Brock also performs the duties as the in-house editor for Lightworks/USA.

Composer, Marcus Barone is busy supervising music for Motion Picture Corporation of America, Inc. and scoring many films as well. He recently finished supervising music on PUMPKINHEAD TWO.

Like many labor-of-love pieces, the script earned everyone's respect and eventually CAR TROUBLE, DARLIN' began to take a life of its own picking up steam with contributions and donations from individuals and vendors alike.

Panavison of Hollywood, Cinelease, Inc., Steadi-Systems, CFI, Kino-Flo, Lightning Strikes, Young Generators, Wilcox Sound, KNB Effects Group, Ultimate Effects, John Brasher & Associates, Inc., and Lightworks/USA are some of the vendors kind enough, and patient enough, to offer generous contributions to the project so it could be fully realized.
