The Magazine for Z Scale Model Railroading

This site has now been visited times since the counter was installed.

Z-Scale is only 1:220,
with rails only ¼" (6.5mm) apart!
It is about 2 times smaller than HO!

This is a wee bit hard to believe, but doing a search on HotBot for
"Ztrack" ca. 1998 yielded exactly 220 hits!

REVIEWS OF ZTRACK ISSUES

I stopped reviewing when I inadvertently let my subscription lapse and a certain editor didn't howl about it!  Unless I get overwhelmed with requests, I think I'll leave it this way, but the four succeding issues were each more fabulous than the preceding ones, as was the "latest" ("latest" is the operative word - Vol. 8, Number 6, Nov-Dec 2002, only arrived 16 Jan 03!).

American Z Line (formerly Rogue Line) Introduces PAs (and PBs) - {Finally!  ALCo PA-1s and PB-1s in Z!}  Small Scale Works to Rogue to American Z (now owned by Norwegian Rail Miniatures) and we will have a limited run (300) {at an unlimited price - $560 msrp/$470 offer} in AT&SF, D&RGW, NYC, PRR (with antennae), SP, and UP (with correct detailing for each) and an unpowered PB-1.  From Ajin in brass and available only through Ztrack.  There is an accompanying insert.

My insert fell out but I found it - it's a questionnaire about the PA-1s and PB-1s,
which are offered as PA, PA-PB, PA-PB-PA, PA-PB, and PB.

Next in line, for Winter 2002, will be the EMD E8/E9!

Märklin News... Branch Line Cars Revised - DB sat has more elaborate baggage-mail car. Märklin EXCLUSIV 2/2001 Items Announced - Three-car Henkel two-axle tank car set #86113 (supplementing last year's four-car set #86112) and set #86615 with a Käble type 70 021 truck tractor and a Culemeyer-type road trailer for moving freight cars a privately-owned Brauerei Ganter two-axle reefer is included in the set.

Side-bar - Märklin is now blackening the wheels of Z locos and cars and some steam drawbars.

Alcatel is selling mobile phones in a presentation case with an SBB Class 460 loco {collectors are already paying $1,000 and up; just what we always needed!}.

Coreless motors, benefits for Z - Part 1 of 2... The history - Harald Freudenreich {of Freudenreich Feinwerktechnik (FR)} writes about the Faulhaber and similar coreless micro-motors {Ye Ed messed up the formulae and such horribly, and well-meaning helpers didn't do much of a job on the technical English, but it's still a great explication}.  Part 2 will examine conversion kits.

A retraction, apology, and reprinting is required,
both for Harald's honor as an engineer and author
