Before I start, I should note that all this started with a secret project that is still unfinished and the next major development of the Berlinerwerke was their fabled DDP45:

ADDITIONAL APOCRYPHA
RSR DD2 Banker - The Ruhnian State Railways' Chief Engineer from
1891 to 1919, Karel Belčamin, came up with a banking engine that
was never produced, the 0-8-0+0-8-0 Garratt Class DD1:

Well, a diligent search of the BW records shows that a prototype was
actually commenced but never finished, and that George Ersatz,
spotting it languishing in a far corner of the RSR's Akohniçe works,
had a brainstorm and suggested some improvements. Belčamin
was nothing if not receptive to new ideas and authorized the BW to
prepare working drawings. Ira Ersatz went to town on this
project, dropped the silly piston rod extensions, and developed the
immensely-successful Class DD2, a faster and more track-worthy
2-8-0+0-8-2 with lengthened fuel and water tanks as in other RSR-BW
cooperative efforts:

Not only did the revised loco perform well, it also drew praise for
its fine proportions.
One minor peeve I have with the RSR is that they never seem to give
credit to the Berlinerwerke without a major fuss; in this case, they
have completely ignored George and Ira Ersatz's outstanding efforts
for Karel Belčamin, again based on the DD1 banking engine, the
RSR's superb dual-service 4-8-4+4-8-4 Garratt Banker Class DD3:

With a longer steam chest and four-wheel pony trucks, this unit
enabled somewhat faster mixed train-service on the same
tortuously-twisting trackage as served by the DD2.
RSR ABCDEF Super-Banker - Now, if you REALLY want a
banker, George Ersatz was strolling through the Ruhnian State
Railways dead line one day and realized that there was more than ample
material for a super-banker based on brother Ira's Multiplex principle.
The idea was to have a loco that could operate from border to border
without stopping to water or refuel and which could handle any goods
train that could be assembled within those borders. Karel
Belčamin's successor, Bela Šahlmeti, gave the BW the go ahead and
the result was the fantastic RSR Class ABCDEF 2-4-6-8-10-12T; this was
a first try at the layout:

There is a MAJOR drafting error on that drawing and the
e-cronies who egg me on to these flights of fancy haven't found it
(yet). Therefore, I offer a free guided tour of the RSR's
Bevice-Akohniçe shops, hosted by no less a personage than the RSR's
own Chief Engineer, Artur Gorote, himself, to the first person who
spots it (it is the winner's responsibility to get to Ruhnia,
assuming she or he can find the place)!
Here it is in its final form, converted to oil firing for reasons that
should be obvious, and with a booster engine on the front truck to eke
out every possible ounce of tractive effort, additional exhaust stacks
for freer drafting (dafting?), and a monster canteen hung on the back
end to implement the BW Ersatz Multiplex system (of maintaining full
adhesion by replenishing fuel and water on the fly), and fuel and
water piping and hoses connecting all tanks:

The only problem experienced by operating crews was that Ruhnia just
wasn't big enough to allow space too turn the loco! They had to
run with standing orders to intrude into neighboring states to turn.
This led to the great Railroad War between Ruhnia and Germany, Austria,
and the Czech Republic, which Ruhnia won handily by the simple
expedient of running the ABCDEF OVER those countries!
Back to the Pennsy; the original Baldwin Centipede was powered by
EIGHT (8) V8 engines set crosswise - really. As
delivered to the SAL, it was repowered with two large Baldwin
Centipede engines, as were the 24 PRR Centipedes:

When those Baldwin engines wore out, they were replaced with single
huge Caterpillar engines:

These re-enginings can drive you buggy!
