Before I start, I should note that all this started with a secret project that is still unfinished and the next major development of the Berlinerwerke was their fabled DDP45:

Josh suggested that I might check out a Scale Test Car with an A-B-C-D-E-F-G wheel arrangement, an arrangement I find of great note (it has a sort of musical ring to it). Sure enough, in the voluminous BW Engineering files, there it was! I gather that the idea was to have cars of various weights so that a test weight was always available for any size scale (I think this one is in the Catatonic Scale!).)

Oh, good grief, Charlie Brown! Could THIS be what Josh meant by a B flat?

This was a concerted effort. Note that each car has a brake staff.
Please don't drum me out of the RR Paintshop when I'm on a roll or try to horn in on
my act. Where's the conductor when we need him? I'd better make this
the finale lest you think I'm harping on the subject and make me face the music.
Russ Hass, a mutual friend of Karen Parker's and mine, reacted to some of the
foregoing by asking about a V8 Heisler and a centipede scale test car. Well,
the 4-Truck Heisler V8 had already appeared
here back in 2003 (on Apocrypha continuation page 1) but that thought, together
with all the stress on 2-4-6-8-10-12 Multiplexii, kicked off an old memory and off I
went to search the BW files, with this result - Ira Ersatz's 6-truck V8 Heisler
in that very wheel arrangement:

In addition, the debate on how to classify the RT1 Compounder under the Whyte
System rages to this very day! The official PRR solution was to call her a
4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4, which is totally misleading, as is Ira's idea that she was a 4-8/6-4
and George's that she was a 4-6/8-4. My own opinion is that she was more
properly a 4-14-4 with multiply-divided divided drive, but who at the BW ever listens
to me?
Here's a response to a challenge laid down by Russ Hass to bug a mutual friend; he
wanted to see what Ira had done with Ingalls Shipbuilding and the Gulf, Mobile &
Ohio for a double-ended Ingalls Turret-Cab. Naturally, I was more
than happy to oblige and a few easy hours in the BW files turned up this real oddity;
the GM&O #1901, a B-B double-ender with dual cabs and a really novel and unusual
conductor's cupola perched amidships atop the cowl:
(15 May 06)

I must admit that I at first misunderstood Russ's inquiry and was searching for a more powerful version; I found that as well, #9100, a B-C-B double-ender dual-engined road unit:

(15 May 06)

Old buddy Dave McConnell asked about the Swedish version (meaning the immensely-popular rock group, ABBA), so I checked further and, sure enough, there WAS a lighter-duty A-B-B-A version of the Ingalls unit, GM&O #1909:

[Hey, at least I've HEARD of ABBA!]
(15 May 06)

Alphabet? ABC? Oh, no! Oh, YES! GM&O #1911;
an A-B-C unit:

I always wondered at the incredibly tight security at the Berlinerwerke during WWII; now it can be told! See, for starters, the wild site of Sig Case, Rails to the Stars - Steam in Space, files from the National Aeronautics and Steam Administration and the tie-in to the Berlinerwerke V1 on Apocrypha Page 2.
