Hello! My name is Brendan Tripp, and I've been writing poetry since my teens, some 30 years now. In fact, I've written a LOT of poems ... with the end of 2001, there are an even 4,000 poems from the past quarter century! For many of those years, I composed 250 poems per year, quickly building up quite an archive of writings.

I initially started my publishing company, Eschaton Productions, Inc. to put out collections of my poetry, although this quickly grew in scope to be a vehicle for my wider metaphysical interests. The collections that I put out through Eschaton were typically a sampling (what I judged to be the best 10%) of my poetry from a given two-year period, which meant that the vast majority of my work was going unread, except for the small group of close friends who received my hand-made annual collections.

I have always wanted to expand my readership, and get the whole body of my work out. Unfortunately, the economics of ink-and-paper publishing (especially for poetry, which is a notoriously poor-selling category) made this impractical {although with recent advances in print-on-demand publishing, it is something that Eschaton may be looking at in the future}. I have been working on the concept of doing a poetry site like this for several years, and it is now finally here.

Needless to say, it takes a long time to do HTML editing on 4,000 poems, with the added complication that the older they are, the less compatible their storage format (I am already having to do file-by-file conversions from a now-defunct word processor into ascii files that I can then cut-and-paste into the .html pages!), so this site is going to be a "work in progress" for a couple of years. Right now I'm estimating that I will be able to add each year going back through the archives at the rate of about one per month, although when we hit the point when the files go from floppies to stacks of paper, it will likely slow way down due to having to scan each poem!

I've just done the alphabetical text listings of the poems (for the months I've gotten up on the site so far) to go along with the basic "calendrical" year-month-day structure of the site and the chronological text lists. The various text lists are accessed from different places ... each year has both a chronological and alphabetical text listing, the links for which are on the main page of each year. However, the full alphabetical text list is linked to from the "break" text (which separates the years that are done from the years I've yet to get edited) on the "top" page with all the years listed. Since this listing will eventually be quite large, it is broken up with a separate page listing the poems for each starting letter. I still plan to be implementing a search function (I have the plug-in, but want to get the other stuff up and running first), so that you can dig through to see how often particular memes crop up (some of them over and over and over again) ... but this may still be several months away.

One new thing that's now available is the I.AM/BTRIPP CafePress store featuring all sorts of items imprinted with my morbid mug and the URL for this site ... while I'm sure there aren't hordes of people lining up for the chance to wear my face out in public, if you felt moved to tangibly support these efforts here, investing in some groovy promotional swag from there would certainly be an option!

Anyway, I hope you find my poetry of interest. This is a journal of my inner self through what has been a very stressful visit to this planet. I will be updating this with new poems, pretty much as they are written, and will be adding the old stuff as I can get the editing done. Keep checking back to see what fresh madness has been put up for public display!

Thanks,

            - Brendan Tripp
