Mark William Margason, T/Sgt 6555415 USAAF, Radioman
Ass'n to B-17F 41-24515 DF-H  Mission, Wilhelmshaven, GR
on May 21, 1943. Reported MIA with 9 Crew MIA, l KIA.

Born, in Shedd, OR., raised Albany, OR.  Enlisted OR. Coast
Art'y 1937, transferred to the US Army 1938.  Assigned to Radio school-
Ft Benning, GA.   Entered flight training as NCO 1939, flying
USA   trainers. Assigned Link Training then crashed air craft.
Transferred to USAAF when first formed.

Continued with Radio and Link as a training instructor.  B-17 (HB)
were being formed.  He remained on ground.  8th Air Force formed
and moved to England 1941.   He was assigned to establish
communications for 8th Air Force. In 1942, he married Mary Dourchaty.
Re-assigned to flight status to the 324th Bomb Sqdrn, 91st Bomb Grp,
Bassingborn, England.

By May 21, 1943, Mark had been on 4 bombing missions and on that
date made his 5th such mission. The target was Wilhelmshaven sub
pens.  The flight was called and departed with 25 planes, 3 returned to
base with problems.  There was no fighter cover to, or over, target.
7 air craft returned having completed the mission.   Missing was
The Jersey Bounce (AKA) Mary Jane, she was lost with all hands.  A
report was filed by the Red Cross stating one of the crew died in the hospital
and no contact was made with him and no other crew members were
found.

Pilot:  1st. Lt. Philip S. Fischer, home New Jersey, USA.  Wife,
Mary Jane Fischer.   Radioman, T/Sgt. Mark William Margason.
He had a son on May 6, 1943 who survived with his widow in
England.

MIA Memorial for over 7000 MIA's
all were named on the wall at the American Cemetery and Memorial near Margraten, The
Netherlands.  Sgt. Margason's name and unit was also there.
