BALLOON TROOPER HELIUM SUPPLIES !
This is what a typical store bought helium/balloon kit looks like. This one was bought at Smart & Final in Pasadena. You can also get them at various toy stores, party supply stores, department stores, etc.
The box contains a disposable helium tank (which is recyclable metal) and a bag of 20 balloons. The balloons come with plastic valves called "safety seals" which are used to tie off the balloons; and they come with plastic ribbon instead of string. You can throw all these plastic parts into a recycle bin right away because Balloon Troopers do not use such things since they are bad for the environment. To protect the environment, always hand tie your balloons instead of using the plastic ties; and always use cotton/hemp/natural fiber thread or string instead of plastic ribbon to suspend your Balloon Troopers from their balloons.
This kit says it makes about 20 balloons but the fact is it will depend on how big you make your balloons. If you make big balloons to carry heavy loads, the kit will not make 20. If you make small balloons with very light loads, the kit might make 20. You will have to experiment to see how small you can get your balloons and still be able to launch your Troopers. The rule of thumb is: To save the most helium, the smaller the balloons, the better.
These helium tanks will store well for long periods if you do not use all the helium in one day. But most times, once you get started launching Balloon Troopers, you'll have so much fun that you'll run out of helium far before you'll run out of energy!
If you decide not to buy a helium kit like this, or you just can't find one, then you can always go to the flower shops or the grocery stores near you to ask them to blow up some balloons for you. Sometimes they'll do a couple balloons for free - especially for little kids, but sometimes they will ask you to pay for the service. Either way, it is not very expensive for all the wonderful fun you will have.
