Coins, Mirrors, & Paintings

(1) Written by Nikki Hornsby - (p) 3/14/97

Some people are like coins

With two different faces;

One shown to the public

The other shown only in private.

But like most two sided coins,

Eventually it pays for something in life.

There are some people like mirrors.

Reflecting only what they face in Life

and they come framed in all types of material.

But like so many kinds of mirrors

they can distort the reality they face.

Other people are like Masterpiece paintings,

Whose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The place in which it’s viewed

Can influence its value to some,

But others find it’s true value

No matter where it hangs

Knowing the

Master Artist Is God.

"The Feast of Existence"

(2) Written (p) by Nikki Hornsby

We are born to the table of life with free choices to be made,

some guidance from others but with our own price to be paid.

The relish of this banquet is placed before us for a short time,

To restrain our free Will to devour this most potent sweet wine.

Every action, reaction, thought, or desire

Will serve us a plate of brief pleasure or fire,

Which is judged by God in the end

once each guest has been served.

And the dessert will be a portion

of what our choice does deserve.

It is the feast of existence, with a purpose of choice,

This be eternal, not ending, if we'd just hear God's voice.

Standing Beside You

(3) Written (p) by Nikki Hornsby 11/91 to 2/3/92

"I'm standing beside you when things go wrong

I'm standing beside you and I'll always be strong.

The world wasn't created to be easy or kind

but with justice a lesson that comes balanced in time."

I'm standing beside you" yes, that's what He said.

Those words He told me come back to my head.

They remind me to be strong when I'm feelin' down

Someone's beside me when no one else can be found.

Some people disappear when you fall to the floor

But there's a ray of hope if you just open the door

and walk into the sunlight without deep despair

for I am a witness. God said, "I'll always be there.

I'm standing beside you when things go wrong

I'm standing beside you and Me you can lean on".

"Talent's are God's gift's"

(4) Written (p) by Nikki Hornsby 6-95

Published in Best Poems Of 1996 Book,

Library of Congress ISBN 1-56167-284-X, by The National Library of Poetry

It's not for the money; it's not for the fame,

It's not for the people to remember my name.

It's for the feelings of sharing those gifts I was given.

for the talents from God which makes a hard life worth livin'.

And the boundless reward reaching into the untouched heart

with an unconditional love and leaving a part

of myself with concern and without hesitation

this true meaning of a life with great celebration.

I give you free choice of acceptance without a demand

I just wanted to extend my gifts & to reach out my hand

So

It's not for the money; it's not for the fame,

It's not for the people to remember my name.

But when my existence has faded and my light has dimmed

I hope a reason for living is under your skin

so you can share it with others as I have with you.

Your talents are God's gifts that He has given to you.

Just remember, Talents are God's gifts -

Give as it has been Given unto you!

THE STRENGTH OF GOD'S LOVE

(5) 10/13/94 (p) by Nikki Hornsby

THERE ARE THOSE TIMES WHEN EVERYTHING LOOKS SO BLEAK

WHEN ALL HOPE DISAPPEARS AND FALLS DOWN TO YOUR FEET

BUT THAT IS WHERE IT BEGINS AND YOU MUST BE BOLD

FOR THIS SADNESS DOES ALL FADE WHEN YOU TAKE HOLD

TO THE HAND THAT'S BEFORE YOU AT YOUR TIME OF DESPAIR

THE GRACE OF GOD'S LOVE WILL TAKE YOU FROM THERE.

SO WHEN EVERYTHING IS GONE JUST KNOW THAT HE CARES AND

THE STRENGTH OF GOD'S LOVE WILL TAKE YOU FROM THERE.

YES,

THE STRENGTH OF GOD'S LOVE WILL TAKE YOU FROM THERE.

"WHEN A DOOR IS CLOSED"

(6) BY NIKKI HORNSBY (p) 6/15/89 THIS WON A GOLDEN POET AWARD

'WHEN A DOOR IS CLOSED ANOTHER IS OPENED'

EVEN WITHOUT A WORD BE SPOKEN.

TAKE WHAT COMES IN MEASURED STRIDE

DON'T SUCCUMB TO EGO'S PRIDE.

THANK GOD YOU'RE BLESSED WITH WHAT YOU'VE HAD

BE IT GOOD OR BE IT BAD.

FOR THE REASON IS SET, TRIED, AND TRUE

LIFE'S PLEASURES AND PAIN, IS GIVEN TO YOU.

IF THE PATH YOU'VE CHOSEN SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLIMB

BE PERSISTENT - ALL SUCCESS TAKES TIME.

THERE ARE TRUE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS WAITING OUT THERE

JUST NEVER FORGET TO REMEMBER IT GOD WHO CARES.

YOUR FAITH WILL SUSTAIN YOU AS STRONG AS IT IS

THERE'S NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE THAT'S JUST AS IT IS

JUST REMEMBER:

'WHEN A DOOR IS CLOSED ANOTHER IS OPENED'

EVEN WITHOUT A WORD BE SPOKEN.

The Writer's Notes to the Reader....The Writer's Notes....To the Reader...hey you!!!!!!!! The Reader...Nikki is sending you a personal note here...The Writer's Notes....to the Reader. Yeah.....read on......

Thank you so much for reading a few of my "Poems of Faith".

I have written poetry, music, & lyrics all of my life.

In college I made & sold poster art with short verses I'd write like

"I see the faults that make us human, and I cry from pure joy that we are!"

Or

"I'll never touch a cloud with my finger tips, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try!"

So, as long as you give me credit, I would be honored if you passed around my poems.

Thank you again and if you visit my personal "Geocities" sites - URLs below - please sign my CJP-NHRecords "Guestbook" too.
