It carves 3D shapes out of blocks of common modeling media such as wood or foam and can be used to fabricate models of buildings, landscapes, etc. CAMmatic, Inc. RPworksTM software converts a CNC milling machine into an additive fabricator. Charlyrobot (France) Robotic CNC for cutting, attaching, soldering, rapid prototyping, and laboratory applications. Datron Dynamics, Inc. Makes a line of medium sized machinery with up to 5 axis capability and 60,000 RPM spindles. Delft Spline Systems (Netherlands) Intelitek Small desk-top machining centers for industry and education [formerly Light Machines]. Roland Digital (Japan) Produces small, very low cost CNC millers and 3 dimensional digitizers. Stratoconception® This is a CNC technique applied to thick layer LOM. Layers are machined from metals or any other final materials and bonded together mechanically. The method allows wide material selection, lowers the stairstepping effect and is said to produce inexpensive parts. Some of the objects shown on their web-site are quite extraordinary. The technology is being commercialized by the French company rp2i SA which also acts as a service bureau. It was developed by CIRTES (France), the European Research Center of Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling. Techno-Isel Produces small CNC milling machines.
