The method allows wide material selection, lowers the stairstepping effect and is said to produce inexpensive parts. Some of the objects shown on their web-site are quite extraordinary. The technology is being commercialized by the French company rp2i SA which also acts as a service bureau. It was developed by CIRTES (France), the European Research Center of Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling.
