THIS IS NOT A TEST
Recently I reconnected with an old friend, and in the intervening years he had become (among other things) a Tarot reader. Those who know me well know that I am a thorough skeptic and have no pateince for charlatans; however, I don't regard serious Tarot as fortunetelling but rather a parlor game that can initiate reflections that can lead to useful insights. My friend K is of a similar mindset and I link to his site because he makes no claims of magic powers or oracular vision but rather offers an entertainment that might provoke one to do something positive. I can't say exactly why I asked for the reading but to say that in the past I have found them to be stimulating; perhaps my addled ADHD head can grok the multiple viewpoints required for comprehension of the variables of placement, suits and arcana, or maybe I just think it's cool, I'm not sure which. In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed the reading and am now curious as to what other readers would make of this spread. I know that several of the regular visitors to this site at least dabble in Tarot and I understand that it takes time and effort to take the time to read the cards properly but I would greatly appreciate any additional perspective anyone could lend. I don't intend any test of K's 'accuracy' because Tarot reading is an art, not a science, and therefore there is nothing to measure. In the way that there is no correct response to a Rorschach blot there is no single fact or bit of knowledge contained in in a Tarot spread. The shifting combinations of archtypes and symbols are interpreted by a combination of intuition and understanding of the multiple meanings contained in each card and the shifting of those meanings within the context of placement and the presence of other cards; which in other words means that it is a very subtle and complex game that allows the player to have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of themselves through someone else's eyes if they are willing to play. This is the information I gave to K before the reading: My birthday is 11/04/69 and my question may seem vague in it's phrasing but it's precise in my head-
"What is the next step?"
