The following is some information on
the Serro Scotty name plate and decals. New decals can be
obtained from various sources, like Ebay and others who sell
them. I would caution on the quality of these decals as members
have comment that some are not good quality as to material and color
used and holding up in the elements. One good source that many
have used is from Gerald
Freitag - Jerry who has been selling these decals for many
years and they are as good as the originals and the quality is very
good. You can contact Jerry by clicking his email above for
information, pricing, etc.
This
is
the Serro Scotty name plate found on all Scottys, unless someone has
removed it. It is usually on the front passenger side below the
window and on the
rear above the license plate holder - light. On some
Scottys you may find a name plate on the inside of the camper as
well. I am not sure how this was decided? My 1963 13'
Gaucho does not have decals or a name plate inside? The name plate will have either just the Irwin, PA plant on it for oldest Scottys. Newer Scottys may have the Irwin, PA plant and the Bristol, Oklahoma(1963) plant( as mine does) and likely after 1968 the Ashburn, Georgia plant, which opened in 1968. So, all three (3) plants would be on the name plate. The two
(2) name plates below are usually found inside the Serro Scotty and
they depict the Model name, notice TONGA and Hi LANDER on the
name plates.
![]() ![]() Members have noted about re-painting
the ' RED ' on the name
plate as it will fade over time. I would suggest you paint the
entire name plate 'black'
first and then do the red. I would recommend Krylon black either
flat or gloss, your choice. In my experience the Krylon holds up
good over time. Following is some information from members
on the red paint and painting it on:
Gerald Freitag adds: "get testers brand "RED" model car paint, its the same Serro used, color that is......Jerry" Heidi says: "We used a red paint pen (available at craft stores or Wal Mart) and although the color is probably not perfect, it's darn close and the control of painting with a pen (just like a felt marker) is wonderful. Ours has lasted two years and when it does fade or wears off, I'll just do it again ! The credit goes to Ben from NH for the idea... Heidi and David Rowell." Obviously, this is a preference as to how you get the red painted. If you want the exact red as Jerry stated, then you will have to paint with a brush. Or a pen, as Heidi stated. Good luck ! MORE DECAL INFORMATION As always, if you have any information, please email me and i will add it to the web page.............thanks. [ top
