From Ken:   "Getting paper out of nowhere is tough, but not impossible. I had nothing whatsoever on my 59. Not even an emblem to tell me what it was. The numbers on it were unreadable. The LP tank plate was covering it and rusted the area to the point where I just couldn't tell the last 3 numbers. But, the camper had an old license plate on it, last registered in the early 80's. I sent Pa DMV $15 and they did a registration check on it. They sent me the vin # and the name of the last registrant. - my 8th grade English teacher, Charlie Woods, who has long since passed away. Small world. That paperwork was enough to get me a registration. NY does not require a title for that age camper. I then stamped the VIN into the aluminum skin on the drivers side, and on a small aluminum plate and affixed it underneath the Serro Scotty Sportsman logo. I figure if none of us knew where to look for it they won't either. If they want numbers then there they are and I don't know nothing. They are the real numbers, though, so phooey on them. If you know what your VIN is, but don't have any paper, then try going to DMV of the state you think it came from and have them run the VIN. Pay the fee. (Pray it doesn't come up stolen.) See if you can track down the last registrant. If you don't know where it came from, try PA  The odds are good. There are a lot of PA campers. Mine came from someone from PA"

If you have no title try this and see if you can get one - From Ace.

1) Bill of sale from a state that it came from. ( ie: Mich. )

2) A letter to the state.  Informing them that you got it from a state were titles are not required.

3) PA form MV-1 paid sales tax and title fee (state the sale price and pay the PA sales tax and title fee )

4) Good luck and hopefully you'll get a valid title.

* I have added this info concerning what is posted from Ace.  Since I was going through the Pa DOT web site, I felt this may be informative.  As the web site notes - MV-1 is not available on line and you need a Notary or dealer to do this form.

"Note: Forms MV-1 and MV-4ST are not available online. These forms must be completed
by an authorized agent of the Department. You will need to contact a notary or dealer for
assistance with the completion of these forms."

This is the link to the MV-1A FORM , which is - Instructions for Completion of Forms MV-1 and MV-4st. I looked through this Instruction form and it will give you a good idea of what all is involved to get the TITLE.  It is in PDF format, so you will need Acrobat Reader to view it.

Don Manvell posted this title service International Title Service  that his son used and did get a Bill of Sale and a title to register the camper in PA. This seemed to work and took a couple of weeks, so may be something you want to check into if you need the service and have the VIN number.
